My father, a commercial photographer in Rochester, New York, emmigrated from Hungary with his brothers in the mid-50′s. His father was also a photographer, so, you could say my interest in making images is genetic. I began to get serious about photography in highschool where I found an excellent mentor in Bruce Bennett; I am dyslexic and always had problems paying attention but photography provided a way for me to communicate visually. Aside from this instruction, and my experience working with my father and other photographers, I am self-taught.

As a documentarian, I photograph people and places in order to see something that hasn’t yet been realized. I empathize with the stories of my subjects. In my work I try to transcend the expectations that I, or the viewer, might have about a subject.
